Madrid,
They have, perhaps, a greater tradition with that name in other European countries, but its concept is not new in Spain either: we are talking about the third spacesplaces outside one’s own home and work and designed for relaxed encounters with others. This objective, that of promoting social interactions when some studies indicate that they are not experiencing a phase of splendor, is the main common note of these projects, otherwise very diverse in their activities and in the claims of their promoters; In urban contexts, whether public or private, they are usually cultural centers, product design and manufacturing laboratories, or computer development laboratories. And include square meters for shared recreation, in the form of cafes or communal kitchens. In no case do they require an invitation.
Infinito Delicias, a center that recently opened its doors at number five Juana Doña Street, in the Arganzuela district of Madrid, roughly responds to these traits. It houses a coworking, an auditorium, rooms for creators or a restaurant, but above all it seeks to be a meeting point from which ideas emerge, fundamentally around three areas: culture, cuisine and innovation.
Although everyone, regardless of our age and profession, is called to enter Infinito Delicias, artists, chefs, farmers and members of foundations, associations, companies, public institutions and startups who wish to articulate, based on mutual collaboration, proposals that generate a positive impact are especially invited. To encourage conversation, the architecture of the center has not been planned in a closed way, but rather seeking to ensure that the walls can connect rather than separate and that each area can complement the rest. Both the building materials and its furniture are also ecologically responsible and natural lighting has been privileged.
In short, Infinito Delicias wants to become the place where researchers, architects, musicians, students or farmers can chat without hierarchies, and where collaborations emerge from this dissolution of borders between disciplines. Its starting point will be the recovery of the value of small daily interactions, listening in the face of haste and noise, and those interested will be able to participate in group activities, innovation workshops or concerts; Also suggest yours.
Behind this initiative, we have not said it, is the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, which at Infinito Delicias will thus work on two of its basic lines of action: sustainable food and art as a discipline capable of uniting citizens. Present in Spain since 2014, this is now the headquarters of that institution in our country; Residency programs are organized here for artists, researchers and multidisciplinary creators, putting at their disposal an apartment and a studio (Andrea Canepa, Vir Andrés Hera, María Jerez and the Juf collective have already visited them), while the UNMAR restaurant offers a kitchen, in the words of the organization, honest, seasonal and local, suitable for all palates. Those who want to experiment themselves in the kitchen, in a collaborative environment and with specialized mentoring, or teach it in video podcast format, can also do so in Beta Kitchen and Kitchen Set.
