Guillaume Goy (45) recently entrusted to LinkedIn that he would never have imagined, when he played the Children’s Post to imitate his mother postal mother, whom he would provide in January 2025, the post of director of the museum of the Post, located at 34, boulevard de Vaugirard in Paris (15th). He succeeds Anne Nicolas, who directed the museum from November 2019 until today.
After studying literature, cultural mediation and museography, Guillaume Goy joined the La Poste group in 1998. He spent “27 very rich” years by exercising the functions of factor, banking advisor and operational manager.
Inaugurated in 1946, the Musée de la Poste, originally located in the Hôtel Hôtel de Choiseul-Praslin (Life Arrondissement de Paris), must change places due to the continuous increase in its collection: Payment of the library PTT central (posts, telegraphs, telephones), as well as donations of stamps and objects linked to the Post Office. In 1966, he moved to a mansion on rue de Vaugirard. Destroyed in 1970, it was rebuilt by the architect André Chatelin (1915-2007) and with a facade worked by the sculptor Robert Juvin (1921-2005). The new building was inaugurated in 1973 by Hubert Germain (1920-2021), Minister of PTT (Posts, Telegraphs, Telephones).
Since then, the museum has been the subject of several renovations: in 2000, in 2015 it was closed to be reopened in 2019 in a brighter and modernized version. Museum of France since 2002, corporate museum, the space of almost 1,000 m2 preserves more than a million philatelic pieces, 200,000 images, 37,000 works, without counting works, magazines, “Mail Art” Contemporary works of art retracing the history of La Poste from the Middle Ages to the present day.
