Starting tomorrow, September 24, eighty contemporary art galleries will participate, in the fifth pavilion of IFEMA, in a new edition, the 34th, of ESTAMPA, to which some of the main agents of Spanish gallery and collecting have been invited.
This time the participating firms will do so in two sections: the General Program and the curated proposal Future Essayfocused on projects created in Spain in recent years and representative of innovative ways of understanding collecting and citizens’ support for current creation.
The General Program will include, among other venues, the consolidated 1MiraMadrid (Madrid), Max Estrella (Madrid), Espacio Mínimo (Madrid), Cayón (Madrid, Menorca, Manila), Moisés Pérez de Albéniz (Madrid), Polígrafa (Barcelona), Río & Meñaka (Madrid), Álvaro Alcázar (Madrid), ArtNueve (Murcia), Rafael Pérez Hernando (Madrid), ATM (Gijón), Fernández-Braso (Madrid), T20 (Murcia), PalmaDotze (Barcelona), Juan Silió (Madrid/ Santander), Isabel Hurley (Málaga), VETA by Fer Francés (Madrid), Set Espai d´Art (Valencia), Siboney (Santander), Twin Gallery (Madrid) or Víctor Lope (Barcelona). More recently opened spaces will also be added, such as Seltz (Barcelona), Wizard (Milan), WitGallery (Madrid), Arniches 26 (Madrid), Art as Experience (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), Lariot Collective (Madrid), Marquesa (Madrid), Gärna (Madrid), Villazán (Madrid), Mecha (Santander), La Mercería (Valencia) or Arma (Madrid).

As to Future Essaycurated by Jesús Alcaide, will host, as we said, new market initiatives: Enhorabuena Espacio (Madrid), Lapislázuli (Madrid), E Ciento Veinte (Madrid), La Panartería (Madrid), Garage Bonilla (Madrid), Ilgaz Yildiz Gallery (Madrid), Arias Rego (Madrid) and Project Space AP1 (Murcia). With the purpose of weaving networks and establishing a possible cartography of these alternative ways of making and disseminating art today, this chapter will be completed with Interferencea meeting for reflection on the evolution and perspectives of different centers and proposals from the Madrid and national context in which invited European commissioners will take part with the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Community of Madrid.

The fair will have Esther Ferrer as a guest artist, an essential figure of action art in Spain whose production encompasses performance, drawing, photography, collage, sound art and installation: her journey is inseparable from the conceptual movement and minimalism developed in our country since the seventies and, also, from feminist thought. Most of his creations propose reflections on time, space, movement, repetition, chance and transformation processes, and usually incorporate humor, irony and the absurd as strategies to question social conventions and systems of representation.
At IFEMA we will find her in the 1 Mira Madrid gallery space, which dedicates a single project to her, and in an exhibition, curated by Lorena Martínez de Corral, which will feature works from private collections loaned for the occasion. Both initiatives will thus offer a very broad vision of the career of this Basque author who represented us at the Venice Biennale twenty-seven years ago. Coinciding with this special presence, Tito Pérez Mora, Filippos Tsitsopoulos and Olga Diego will perform performances.

The ESTAMPA Curatorial Technical Committee is this year made up of the independent curators Violeta Janeiro, Jesús Alcaide, Lorena Martínez de Corral, Miguel Álvarez Fernández, Enrique Andrés Ruiz, Sema D’Acosta and Alicia Ventura, while the Board of Trustees of the Advisory Commission continues to be made up of the collectors Juan Antonio Rodríguez Deorador, Tanya Capriles (Brillemburg-Capriles Collection), Luis Caballero, Candela Álvarez Soldevilla (Studiolo Collection), Fernando Panizo (Tasman Projects), Juan Antonio Trujillo (OTR Collection), Manuel Navacerrada (Navacerrada Collection), Borja Fernández Cobaleda (Campocerrado Foundation) and Victorino Rosón Díez-Feijo (Aldebarán Collection). And some new faces have also joined its team in recent months: the art historian and cultural manager Pablo Pérez Océn, curatorial assistant at the Juan March Foundation, will be attached to the direction; and Ana Gutiérrez Fajardo will be part of its coordination area.
As usual and in parallel, the Colecciona program will launch a set of activities with special guests, curators, managers and collectors, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the support of Acción Cultural Española. Here Ouka Leele will take center stage, coinciding with the current exhibition of artists of her generation at Alcalá 31.
