Huesca,
Soon he will forty years of the presentation, both in the exhibition hall of the Diputación de Huesca and in several public spaces of that city, of the sample of Alberto Carrera Blecua “The trip”, which he himself devised in 1988 and that many considered a revulsive in the dissemination of contemporary art in this province, in which the author had been born. In his career he evolved from the first realistic treatment of figures and objects to work with essential gestures, the alternation of that figuration with the abstraction and the tendency to expressiveness derived from the matrica brushstroke and the conceptual burden of their images.
That trip now has its return in this same center: the Diputación hosts a new exhibition of the career Blecua in which both unpublished or recent pieces can be seen and works that carried out in the decade prior to his death, from 2007 to 2017, of a clearly introspective nature and in which the representation, never evident, of his memories, emotions and states of consciousness.
They are part of this new exhibition, justly entitled “Round trip”, ninety creations: more than half can be seen for the first time and the rest on the rare occasion had been shown in Huesca, so that they suppose an opportunity to enter the roads of Carrera Blecua to plastically transfer their vision of loneliness, power, the finite and the permanent or their conception of their own individuality.
That last notion of the self constitutes the key thematic axis in its painting, throughout all its stages: it manifests itself in its exploration of the human presence in space, its evocations to the past and its references to the transience of the present, pain and disagreement, always, in any case, sifted by the subtle and implicit. The titles of his works do not provide closed information and the spectator has before him an open reading field.

The route of this sample has been raised in tune with these ways of doing: it is structured in three sections, two of them corresponding to prologue and epilogue, but it is not derived from closed academic or stylistic speeches, but from the search for relationships between the works that have to do with emotion and nuances. Also with the word.
Open the exhibition a great self -portrait that looks as a profile to the visitor and that supposes a first Blecua career meeting with him; Others will arrive, carried out in different stages of his career, after following traces painted with the same plates that this author used to fill the streets of Huesca on those traces, during his trip first, and between poems by Javier Carnicer.
In Alcanar, the Catalan town that was its last refuge, deployed its engravings series Mediterraneanpopulated by sea and fish; Here they have arrived forty -two of them and two previous and significant works where these animals have already appeared, in addition to plates (tint methacrilates of infallible aesthetics) that served to perform that series and the immediately previous Casablanca fish (2013-2015).

The central section of this project houses a set of paintings dated between 2013 and 2015 and that were part of the exhibitions “The time also paints” and “in the colors of the night”. They have in common themes and ways: as intimate as expressive, they delve into the notion of the self of the artist, the genius (artistic) and the visitor.
They will take place their visions of seven self -portraits of Goya, in the same order and disposition in which career presented them in their reinterpretation of the Black paintings In the Camón Aznar Museum in Zaragoza in the year of his death, as well as little known pieces of less format and same purpose and unpublished notebooks.

The last room brings together works that carried out in various African trips between 2007 and 2013 and that, in the context of the commissioner’s story (Pía Michot and Javier Carrera), come to symbolize trips without return, such as those of so many immigrants without luck represented in some case explicitly (as in Damn tripin the funds of the Diputación). They are more luminous, but they also incorporate complaint and commitment.
As on that first Oscense Tour of Carrera Blecua, this exhibition has also gone to the street, in the form of installation by the Fratelli Moca brothers and the users of Arcadia-Foundation Agustín Serrate, Valentia and the Public Library Ramón J. Sender. It is an ode to nature.
