The trial of the three men accused of having stolen 18-carat gold toilets made by Maurizio Cattelan began in Oxford in the United Kingdom. They are Michael Jones (39), Fred Doe (36) and Bora Guccuk (41).

The affair dates back to 2019. The artist Maurizio Cattelan, king of provocation, had installed a work in the Bleinheim Palace (Oxfordshire) a work entitled “America”: gold (functional) toilets, of a guaranteed value of $ 6 million (5 million euros).

During the night of September 13 to 14, 2019, five men, including Michael Jones, who had taken photos beforehand to facilitate the flight, had forced the wooden doors of the palace before entering a window and sinking a wooden door. Michael Jones was breaded with James Sheen, a 40 -year -old building worker, who had participated in the flight and attempt to sell gold. He had already pleaded guilty last year. James Sheen had tried to negotiate an agreement with Fred Doe and Bora Guccuk in order to take advantage of the loot. The trio had set a price of 25,600 pounds per kilo for around 20 kg of stolen gold. However, gold has never been found.

The trial is expected to last for another four weeks.
