Five decades of work have been brought together in this volume dedicated to one of the Cuban artists with the greatest international projection. Linked in his beginnings to the movement that contributed to renewing Cuban art in the eighties, Bedia has developed his own language in which painting, drawing, sculpture and installation come together, with a strong presence of symbols, mythologies and spiritual traditions from different cultures. His interest in indigenous communities and ancestral practices, fueled by his travels and personal experiences, runs through much of his production. The book covers the different stages of his career and incorporates essays by various specialists, as well as images of his travels and his collection of ethnographic objects. Its presentation coincides with the exhibition “Dialogues in the Desert”, which can be visited until November 7 at the El Apartamento gallery in Madrid.

Visual guide to architecture in the Middle Ages III. The gothic It helps us understand the keys to an architecture that took medieval construction techniques to a level of complexity unknown until then. Through clear explanations and abundant visual documentation, the book analyzes its main Gothic elements, from the cross vaults and flying buttresses to the large windows, without forgetting the historical, religious and social context in which these constructions arose. It also brings us closer to the technical, economic and human difficulties involved in building a cathedral. This volume completes a series dedicated to medieval architecture that has two other installments, focused on the early Christian, Byzantine, pre-Romanesque and Islamic worlds, and on the Romanesque. A particularly useful collection for students, art fans and the curious, which helps answer many of the questions we have ever asked ourselves in front of those cathedrals that continue to impress us.

We know how exciting some personal libraries can be and what they can say about their owners and their way of understanding the world. This book allows you to approach the creative universe of Luis Barragán (1902-1988), one of the great names of Mexican architecture of the 20th century and Pritzker Prize winner in 1980, from another perspective, through his personal library. Preserved in his home-studio in Mexico City, now converted into a museum, it brings together the readings and references that fed his thinking and his particular conception of space. Barragan. Your librarypublished by RM, invites us to know that most intimate facet of the architect and to discover his relationship with art, spirituality, landscape and modernity. The volume includes texts by several authors and a magnificent photographic essay by David Jiménez, whose images travel through the spaces of the house and capture the games of light and shadow, the silence and serenity so characteristic of Barragán’s architecture. A look at his work through the books that accompanied it.
