A hundred costumes retrace forty years of choreographic creation since Codexmounted in 1986 in Avignon, “matrix piece that synthesizes his first ideas and with which he creates his team”continues the curator. The credits included Christophe Salengro, the musician Hugues de Courson (founder of the group Malicorne), the costume designer Philippe Guillotel. Deployed in thirteen thematic rooms (Matters, Metamorphoses, Anatomies, Black and White, etc.), the tour ends with the opening ceremony of the Albertville Olympics in 1992. This constitutes a unique production in the artist’s career, due to the scale of the event, its media coverage, and its popular and critical success.
Bringing together some 300 dancers and acrobats and as many extras, the show celebrates the purity of the sporting gesture and its proximity to dance. Troupe leader “by default rather than by desire”Decouflé has collaborated with several costume designers. Thus, discussions are nourished with Philippe Guillotel, Jean Malo, Laurence Chalou or Charlie Le Mindu, and ideas and references are exchanged. Collaborations that aim to magnify the body and push the limits of stage costumes, towards ever more originality in terms of materials, colors and humor.
