The complaint of the Tapestry 2027 association aims to cancel the modification of the backup and enhancement plan (PSMV) of the remarkable heritage site of Bayeux, voted by the town hall. The modification allows the construction of the future building 115 meters long, which requires cutting nearly 80 trees and modifying the roads (removal of a sidewalk and a parking lot). The building will make 2,000 square meters, with a long blind facade on the residential street where the trees were slaughtered in January 2025. The association deplores that the project does not integrate into the aesthetics of the current museum (buildings of the 17th and 18th centuries) or with the town planning of the district located near the cathedral.
According to tapestry 2027, which is not opposed to a new building in principle, the project does not respect “ town planning rules ” and go “Contrary to environmental protection policies”. In addition, she claims that the project was not clearly presented to the inhabitants, while the town hall says it has organized “Several public meetings” and have brought “Response elements”. Tapestry 2027 recalls, however, that the investigating commissioner, appointed in 2024, had made an unfavorable opinion on the modified PSMV: he indeed concludes that “The file presented to the public did not allow an informed opinion” on the project. Pending the court’s decision, the association launched a petition, and plans to appeal against the building permit.
