The SAS Pass Culture changes direction

The culture pass, Emmanuel Macron flagship device, aimed at facilitating young people to culture, is experiencing a change of management. Laurence Tison-Vuillaume succeeds Sébastien Cavalier to the presidency of SAS Pass Culture, thus wanting to mark a new stage for this often criticized initiative.

Former student of the National School of Administration (Promotion René Cassin, 2003), Laurence Tison-Vuillaume (51 years old) began her career at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, before joining the Court of Auditors. She then held the position of assistant secretary general, responsible for the economy and innovation, at the General Commission for the Development of the Seine Valley. At the same time, she was invested in local political life as a deputy mayor of Rouen, regional councilor and vice-president of the Haute-Normandie region, delegate for culture, between 2004 and 2012. In 2013, she joined the Ministry Culture as a service of service, assistant to the director general of artistic creation.

She then heads the offices of Françoise Nyssen, Minister of Culture (2017-2018), then Sibeth Ndiaye, government spokesperson (2019-2020). In December 2022, she was appointed head of the General Inspectorate of Cultural Affairs Service (IGAC).

His appointment at the head of the culture pass is a new answer to recurring criticisms against the pass and the orientations that the minister wishes to give to this device. In particular, it is a question of targeting young people far from culture more and promoting the diversification of cultural practices. Today, 67 % of purchases concern books and cinema.
