She is close to the Minister of Culture whom Emmanuel Macron appointed to the general directorate of heritage and architecture (DGPA) of Rue de Valois as of November 14. Delphine Christophe has an exemplary academic career. She first attended the École nationale des chartes before continuing at the École Pratique des Hautes Études with training in history and art history. She then was a student at the National Heritage Institute (INP) in 2005 and 2006.
Her professional career began in 2006 at the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) of Limousin, where she was regional curator of historical monuments until 2009. She then joined the former DRAC Languedoc-Roussillon, where she took a similar position, but at the same time became responsible for the architecture and heritage pole until 2015. That year she was appointed director of the conservation of monuments and collections within the Center des national monuments (CMN). Position during which she will supervise the restoration of the Hôtel de la Marine during a four-year project, from 2017 to 2021. Another major project in this position: the restoration of the Château de Villers-Cotterêts, which has hosted the Cité internationale de la langue française since 2023.
At the end of this project, Delphine Christophe was appointed regional director of cultural affairs for the Grand Est until 2024. But shortly after, Rachida Dati asked her to join her office Rue de Valois as deputy director.
She will now head the very important general directorate of heritage and architecture. She succeeds Jean-François Hebert who has exercised his retirement rights.
