ARTESANTANDER, the second oldest contemporary art fair in Spain after ARCOmadrid (it has been held annually since 1990), has announced some keys to what will be its 34th edition, which will take place from July 2 to 5 at its usual venue: the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of the Cantabrian capital, very close to the beaches of Sardinero.

Under the direction, for the third consecutive call, of Mónica Álvarez Careaga, forty national and international galleries will participate in the event; Among the latter we will find rooms from Italy, North Macedonia, Germany, Portugal and Mexico, selected with the support of the cultural manager Giulietta Zanmatti Speranza and the curator Joaquín García Martín.

The General Program will not miss the Madrid-based Rafael Pérez Hernando, VETA by Fer Francés and Galería Silvestre; from Barcelona, ​​Víctor Lope Arte Contemporáneo and Al-Tiba9 Gallery; and from Sevilla, DiGallery and Barrera Baldán. A Pick Gallery (Italy), dst.galerie (Germany), Proyecto H (Mexico) and Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea (Portugal) will also return and, among other centers, Manuel Zoia Gallery (Italy) and Pioneri Gallery (North Macedonia) will debut.

We can also announce some names of the artists on the stands, which will be close to a hundred. Mention must be made of Mario Manso and Pablo Quesada (Provisional23), Alba Dorta and Cristina Regalado Ramos (L Contemporary), Carmen Ceniga Prado (Gaby Vera Fine Arts), Quique Zarzamora (Wit Art Gallery), Sara Piñeiro and Eduard Gil Alsina (Néboa), Amaya Suberviola (SC Gallery), Raquel Lobo (Llamazares), Carlos Cañadas (Mecha); to the internationals Angela Burson and Simón Quadrat (Rafael Pérez Hernando), Cristóbal Ochoa and Fausto Amundarain (Tönnheim Gallery), Janus Hochgesand (dst.galerie), Letizia Scarpello and Manuel Portioli (A Pick Gallery) or Barry Wolfryd (Al-Tiba9 Gallery); and to the Cantabrians Álvaro Trugeda, Eloy Velázquez and José Antonio Quintana (Balta Gallery), Silvia Cosío (DiGallery), Javier Trugeda (Mecha) or Arancha Goyeneche, Chelo Matesanz, Concha García and Emilia Trueba (Siboney).

Apart from the General Program, ARTESANTANDER will have the sections Guest Artist, Editorial, Platforms and Balearic Islands only and the activities will complete their offer ARTESANTANDER Talks, Media and the Collectors Program. Exhibition prizes will be awarded next to the Port of Santander and the National Museum of Altamira and the fair collaborates in the launch of two exhibitions this month: that of Paula Santomé in the Embarcadero Palace and that of Daniel Schweitzer in the Altamira Museum itself, in Santillana del Mar.

The first explores the relationship between memory, image and story based on certain visual forms; The second will delve into the links between contemporary and historical art practices.
