Isabelle Warmoes appointed to the direction of the Museum of Reliefs

Entrance ten years ago at the Museum of Relief Plans, Isabelle Warmoes (57 years old) takes full responsibility after having directed it for a year. She holds a master’s degree in art history (Paris I) and a DEA (Master 2) during her training at the Practical School of High Studies.

Then she exercised for twenty years as an independent historian before joining in 2011 the museum of reporting plans, where she was successively a study engineer, then heritage curator in 2023.

She organized several exhibitions there, including “Relief plans, masterpieces of the collection” in 2016 and “Les Plans-reliefs, witnesses of history” in 2023. She contributed to the exhibition “France in relief. Masterpieces from the collection of LOUIS XIV relief plans in Napoleon III ”.

Installed in the Invalides, the Museum of Reliefs, founded in 1943, was redeveloped in 1997. It owned a hundred relief plans dating from the XVIIᵉ in the 19th century, accompanied by preparatory plans and drawings. He highlights these works combining military and crafts. These models are witnesses to the past town planning of French and foreign cities.
