A portrait is a photograph or a painting, or a sculpture in which the face and its expression are predominant.
We can say also that a Portrait is an artistic representation of a person where the face and its expression are predominant.
The intent is to make visible the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography, a portrait is usually not a snapshot, but a composed image of an individual during a still position. A portrait often shows an individual looking directly at the painter or photographer, so as to most successfully engage the topic with the viewer.
There are various types of portraits
- Self Portrait
- Official portrait
- Portrait photography
and many more .
A short video of Portrait making. Hope you will enjoy.
1. Self Portrait
When an artist makes a portrait of himself /herself, that is called a self-portrait. There are numerous examples in the late Middle Ages.
We assume that self-portraits go back to the cave paintings, the earliest representational art, and literature records several classical examples that are now lost.
2. Official portrait
official portrait is a photographic production of important personalities, notably kings, presidents, and governors. It is usually made with official colors and symbols like the flag, presidential stripes, and coat of arms of countries, states, or municipalities.
Portrait photography is one of the popular industries all over the world. Most people love to have professionally made family portraits to hang in their homes, or special portraits to commemorate certain events, such as graduations or weddings.
Being an artist I always love to make portraits besides other paintings. Here I am showing my few portraits (done by Me). Hope you will like also.
